Mounting Spyball Control Unit (Model SCFM-A) |
| |
|

|
|
Manufactured primarily for
the leisure industry for installation in Marine Aquaria and Zoos,
these units provide a unique interactive experience for the public
and this has proved to be very popular with both children and
adults.
Controls are intuitive to
use and the proportional joystick allows the camera to rotate
smoothly in any direction at variable speed.
|
|
| |
| Speed of camera movement is controlled
by the amount of joystick deflection and within minutes, most adults and
children can follow fish and divers etc. without difficulty. |
| |
|
Simple push buttons make
the camera zoom into the subject to see amazing detail and a slow
/ fast zoom button gives further enhancement to this function.
Focus can be set to automatic
or manual as preferred. The rugged flush mounted Stainless Steel
control panel is designed for constant operation over many years,
with switches and joystick chosen to withstand the abuse that
is to be expected from operation by the public.
For safety, power within
the control panel is restricted to less than 24 volts DC and a
separate Power and Distribution box linked by a 3 metre cable
is supplied for mounting in an area excluded from public access.
AC or DC powered versions are available to order.

Weighing only 11 Kg and housed
in a durable yellow Polypropylene case, this unit provides the ultimate
in portable controllers. A colour 15 inch active matrix TFT LCD display
mounted in the case lid behind a scratch resistant Polycarbonate window,
displays a clear and bright image from the Spyball camera.
This display has a wide viewing
angle, which allows the display to be viewed by several people at once
during recording and playback. A Sony Digital 8 video recorder built
into the panel has Composite Video and Firewire connections provided
for post survey editing and copying without sacrificing quality.
Large panel mounted control buttons
for Stop, Pause and Record have been added to simplify operation during
surveys. Date and Time are automatically recorded on the tape and can
be superimposed on the display either immediately or during playback.
When required, a Video Typewriter can be connected to a socket on the

| Desktop
Spyball Control Unit (Model SCDT) |
| |
|
Desktop Spyball
controllers can be supplied in a number of configurations to suit the
various Spyball models. These units are manufactured from extruded Aluminium
section with anodised front panel and moulded plastic end plates. All
versions are fitted with a very robust "Hall effect" proportional
joystick which allows the operator to smoothly rotate the camera at
variable speed to look in any direction.
The basic version,
model SCDT-A, does not require any further controls and is used for
control of the Monochrome Spyball Model SB-MO or the Colour Spyball
model SB-CO. Model SCDT-Z has additional push button controls for operation
of the zoom Spyball model SB-CZ functions as follows: automatic focus
on / off, focus near, focus far, zoom in, zoom out and zoom fast / zoom
slow.
|
Model SCDT-I
has a slightly different arrangement for control of Inspection
Spyball model SB-CI as follows: automatic focus on / off, focus
near, focus far, zoom in, zoom out, lights on / off and lasers
on / off. A BNC connector on the rear of the control unit is used
to connect the video output signal to a video monitor for display
of the Spyball picture.
Connection
of the underwater cable from the Spyball is to an Amphenol connector
on the rear panel. This connector is fitted to most Control Unit
versions to ensure sufficient compatibility with any Spyball type
to provide a minimum of picture and joystick control although
some features may be unavailable when used with the wrong version.
|
|
 |
For safety, the
control unit operates from 24 volts DC and a separate universal AC-DC
converter is supplied for use with any AC supply from 95 to 250 Volts.

on the front panel are laid out in a logical and easy to use arrangement
which allows a Spyball from each group to be selected and displayed
on external video monitors. Buttons illuminate to indicate selection.
|
A group selector
button at each side of the Joystick allows the operator to decide which
of the 2 Spyballs selected will be controlled. The proportional Joystick

A 12 inch monochrome
video display mounted inside the case lid a scratch resistant Polycarbonate
window displays a clear and bright image from the Spyball camera. The
very rugged joystick gives proportional control of the Spyball to allow
smooth speed control of pan and tilt movement.
|
Internal
circuits monitor battery voltage and automatically shut the controller
down when the voltage falls to a preset level to avoid damaging
over discharge of the battery. A detachable viewing hood can be
supplied to enable viewing of the picture even in bright sunlight.
Operation in rain is not a problem providing the unit is not stood
in water and that it is dried off after use and stored in a dry
environment.
Optionally,
the controller can be fitted with an additional switch to allow
use with the illuminated monochrome Spyball Model SB-MI. This
unit is particularly suited to use on fish farms where its durability
and ease of use have been proved over a number of years.
A trolley
unit is available for use with the Model SCPM which incorporates
space for a battery and stowage for the Spyball and up to 30 metres
of cable. The picture on the right shows the trolley with control
unit installed and fitted with a detachable visor to allow viewing
in bright sunlight.
